本剧为《绝命毒师》的前传，讲述律师Saul Goodman的故事。本剧采用非线性叙事。Saul Goodman初次登场时并不叫Saul Goodman，他的名字叫Jimmy McGill，当时只是一个小律师与调查员Mike在一起工作，过着养家糊口的日子。本剧将描述Jimmy转变为Saul Goodman的全过程。
