67岁的小学老师文英终于熬到退休了，而退休后的生活却不如她想的那样悠闲。四个儿女有各自的生活烦恼，而文英在一次医院检查被告知只剩下了最后半年的生命。她列出自己的遗愿清单，决定瞒着所有儿女，开始按照自己清单去体验自己以前从未体验过的事物。在这个过程中，她逐渐发现儿女们还有着许多让她割舍不下的担忧，她不得不将属于自己的遗愿逐个划去，换上儿女的问题。儿女们得知母亲的病情，发现了遗愿清单，决定不在母亲面前揭穿真相，想办法帮助母亲完成属于母亲自己的心愿。母亲逐渐也明白儿女们都已经知道了自己的病情。当双方都不得不面对临终的现实，母亲和儿女都对彼此有了重新的认识，这种认识也带动了身边的其他人，进一步认清亲情的重要及生命的可贵。
