电影以碟仙传统恐怖文化元素为载体，讲述一群年轻人在玩碟仙游戏中所遭遇到的灵异事件，一个女孩当场被碟仙指认有罪而被烧死，多年以后，其他人又一次聚在一起，死亡接踵而至，这时候，有人提议玩碟仙来“逃出生天”。影片将碟仙这一古典惊悚元素和青春题材结合在一起，片中碟仙冥冥之中显灵，促成了一场诡异的“大逃杀”。
根据汉代史学家司马迁撰写的史记改编，将里面著名故事如战国四大公子等用动画表现出来，使其更加生动易懂。
