《猛犸敢死队》是以四十年代初中原一带女子敢死队英勇顽强抗击日本侵略者为主要内容。其寓意就是这支由女子组成的敢死队面对恶劣的环境条件，在敌战区内外神出鬼没奋勇杀敌，具有顽强的生命力的意思。 抗战初期，国民党为阻止日军北上，成立了一支女子敢死队，代号“猛犸”。以国民党情报处特务营女上尉连长海娅娜为首的“猛犸敢死队”，在八路军武工队的率领下，开始了卓绝而又英勇的各种秘密抗日活动……一列日军军火列车在车站上被分装成两列火车。运往北部山区的火车在八路军武工队副队长于刚的指挥下，很快被引爆；另一军火列车，被敢死队秘密安装了定时炸弹，并利用车身的运行，炸毁了日军进攻路线上的桥梁和隧道。接着，他们营救通讯处长；铲除叛徒、营救博士；炸桥梁、窃药品……演绎了一曲曲可歌可泣的抗日战歌，为抗战胜利作出了贡献。
