故事始于英法两国交界处的隧道内。某法国政客的尸体在该处被发现，但尸体的下半部却来自另一名受害者，失踪数月的威尔士妓女Gemma Kirwan。来自英国的警探Karl Roebuck和法国的警探Elise Wassermann被派去调查此案。他们在犯罪现场的惊人发现，使这对搭档关系紧张起来。
