以医疗事故的原因查明和防止再发生为目的，“医疗事故调查制度”于去年10月起在日本开始实行。以这一制度为主题，本剧将成为潜入事故背景、揭开其黑暗的人性医疗推理剧，而且是1集完结型的原创作品。谷原饰演的角色，是虚构组织“医疗事故调查委员会”、统称“MAIC”第七班的调查员，追求着医疗相关人士与患者们之间的真实的主人公·华冈慧。在慧的私生活中，与他有结婚誓言但却已身亡的婚约者·琴塚七海留下了一个与她没有血缘关系的6岁女儿·琴塚四叶，慧与这个孩子以及母亲·育世一同生活着，这就是他的角色设定。
